Clarifications brought by the Protocol
The main clarifications brought by the Protocol, as well as the subsequent instructions provided by the Ministry of Interior are the following:
- The expatriates seconded to branches of legal entities headquartered abroad are not required to obtain a Romanian work permit in order to apply for an extension of their residence permits.
- For expatriates appointed as administrators within Romanian companies, the extension of the stay right in Romania is extended based on a D/AS visa, without being necessary to previously obtain a Romanian work permit. We note that the individual should not be shareholders/associates of the Romanian company.
- The procedure for obtaining the Romanian work permits has been simplified.
